What To Order

I’ve loosely organized my recommendations around the drink categories listed on the Starbucks drive-thru menu. The pictures below are my own and should give you a rough idea of what your drink will look like.

LOW CARB COFFEE DRINKS

1. Low Carb Flat White

The most common low carb coffee drink at starbucks is a Flat White. A Flat White typically comes with a highly concentrated shot of espresso and steamed whole milk to create a creamy coffee with a strong buzz. Steamed milk has 8g of sugar so replace it with a mixture of half heavy whipping cream and half water to get the same creaminess without the carbs.

  • Order it low carb: “Short Flat White. Replace the steamed milk with half heavy whipping cream & water steamed.”
  • Macros: 55 calories, 1g net carbs, 1g protein, 5g fat.

2. Low Carb Mocha

A typical Caffe Mocha has 20g of net carbs and comes with milk, brewed espresso, mocha sauce, and whipped cream. To cut the carbs, replace the milk with half heavy whipping cream & half water and replace the mocha sauce with skinny mocha sauce.

  • Order it low carb: “Short Mocha with skinny sugar-free mocha sauce. Replace the milk with half heavy whipping cream and half water.”
  • Macros: 55 calories, 1g net carbs, 1g protein, 5g fat.

3. Low Carb Latte

A Caffe Latte typically comes with espresso, steamed milk, and a light layer of foam.  To recreate a low carb version, you’ll start from from scratch and order an Americano with a splash of heavy whipping cream. Ask them to add foam if the presentation under the lid is important to you (I forgot).

  • Order it low carb: “Short Americano, filled with 3/4 water and the rest with heavy cream. Add foam on top please.”
  • Macros: 216 calories, 4g net carbs, 3g protein, 22g fat.

4. Low Carb Fresh Brewed Coffee

Most of the fresh brewed hot coffees Starbucks are naturally keto friendly. I ordered a cup of their most popular brew: the Pike Place roast.

5. Low Carb Americano

Comes with espresso shots topped with hot water to produce a layer of crema (that dissipates quickly as you can’t really see it in my photo). It’s naturally low carb.

  • Order it low carb: “Short Americano.”
  • Macros: 5 calories, 1g net carbs, 0g protein, 0g fat.

6. Low Carb Misto

Comes standard with a one-to-one mix of fresh brewed coffee and steamed milk. If you order it “short,” it only has 5g net carbs. If you want a larger size then replace the steamed milk with steamed half and half to cut the carbs.

  • Order it low carb: “Short Misto.”
  • Macros: 50 calories, 5g net carbs, 4g protein, 2g fat.

7. Low Carb Chai Tea Latte

The typical Chai Tea Latte is a foam-topped hot drink made from milk, water, and chai tea concentrate which has added sugar and honey. The added milk, sugar, and honey give the short-sized Chai Tea Latte a whopping 22 net carbs.

To get a low carb Chai Tea Latte, ask your barista to reconstruct the drink using their brewed chai tea bags (no concentrate), heavy whipping cream, and sugar free cinnamon dolce syrup. It’s delicious. This is one of my favorites.

  • Order it low carb: “Short Chai Tea Latte using 2 Chai brewed tea bags — not the concentrate — with 2 shots of heavy whipping cream, and 2 pumps of sugar-free cinnamon dolce.”
  • Macros: 206 calories, 4g net carbs, 1g protein, 22g fat.

8. Low Carb Caramel Macchiato

A typical Caramel Macchiato comes with milk, brewed espresso, vanilla syrup, and a drizzle of caramel sauce. To create a moderately low carb version, you’ll start from scratch and order an Americano with heavy whipping cream, sugar-free vanilla syrup, and an extra light drizzle of caramel.

  • Order it low carb: “Short Americano, filled with 3/4 water and 1/4 heavy whipping cream with 2 pumps of sugar-free vanilla syrup, shots on top, and extra-light caramel drizzle.”
  • Macros: 123 calories, 7g net carbs, 3g protein, and 11g fat.

Get it “with whip” if you want that pretty whip cream topping under the lid so that the caramel drizzle shows on top. Adds 2-3g of net carbs.

9. Low Carb White Chocolate Mocha

A typical White Chocolate Mocha comes with milk, white chocolate mocha sauce, espresso, and whipped cream. A short cup of White Chocolate Mocha has 28g net carbs. Yikes. Starbucks doesn’t carry a sugar-free substitute for the white chocolate mocha sauce, so you’ll have to ask them to go easy on it and settle for a moderately low carb substitute with diluted flavor.

Low Carb Starbucks White Chocolate Mocha

  • Order it moderately low carb: “Short White Chocolate Mocha with whip. Single pump of white chocolate mocha sauce (instead of the normal 2 pumps). Replace the milk with 3/4 water and 1/4 heavy whipping cream.”
  • Macros: 183 calories, 12g net carbs, 1g protein, and 16g fat.

I ordered this drink and drank less than half so that I only consumed about 5g net carbs.

10. Low Carb Vanilla Latte

A typical Vanilla Latte has espresso blended with steamed 2% milk and vanilla syrup. It has 18g net of carbs.

A Skinny Vanilla Latte uses steamed non-fat milk and sugar-free vanilla syrup. The sugar free vanilla syrup helps but the non-fat milk still has 9g net carbs.

To get a truly low carb Vanilla Latte, you’ll need to replace the milk with heavy whipping cream & water and replace the regular vanilla syrup with sugar-free vanilla syrup.

  • Order it low carb: “Short Vanilla Latte, replace the milk with 3/4 water and the rest with heavy cream. Add 2 pumps sugar-free vanilla syrup.”
  • Macros: 216 calories, 6g net carbs, 3g protein, 22g fat.

11. Hot Tea

The following Starbucks brewed teas have 0 calories and 0g net carbs and are perfect for keto dieters.

  • Emperors Cloud and Mist Green Tea
  • Jade Citrus Mint Green Tea
  • Mint Majesty Herbal Tea
  • Passion Tango Herbal Tea
  • Peach Tranquility Herbal Tea
  • Royal English Breakfast Tea
  • Teavana Earl Grey Brewed Tea
  • Teavana Joy (Seasonal)
  • Teavana Organic Chai Tea
  • Youthberry White Tea

You can add flavor and texture to your tea by using heavy whipping cream or sugar-free syrups. For example, I recently ordered a low carb London Fog hot tea and it was delicious.

  • Order it low carb: “Short Earl Grey tea made with 2 tea bags, 2 shots of steamed heavy whipping cream, and 1 pump of sugar free vanilla syrup.”
  • Macros: 206 calories, 3g net carbs, 1g protein, 22g fat.

    3 KETO AT STARBUCKS OPTIONS

There are several different options that will keep you in Ketosis at Starbucks. Some have been covered earlier but lets recap a list of our favorite 5 options.

1. Caffè Misto

This comes 1/2 coffee and 1/2 steamed milk. Alternatively you can order it with cream instead of milk. To go the other direction and lower the carb content (or if you’re lactose intolerant like me, order it with almond milk.

  • Order it keto option 1: “Caffe Misto with Almond Milk”
  • Macros: 37 calories, 1.5g net carbs, 3g protein, 2.6g fat.
  • Keto option 2: “Caffe Misto with 4oz water & 4oz heavy cream”
  • The Macros: 404 calories, 3.3g net carbs, 3.5g protein, 42g fat.

2. Low Carb Pink Drink

This is a newer option made from iced passion fruit tea and sugar-free syrup. By adding some heavy cream you’ll be in keto land for sure.

  • Order it keto: “Pink Drink with 3 pumps sugar free & 1oz of heavy cream”
  • Macros: 100 calories, 1g net carbs, 1g protein, 11g fat.

3. Starbucks Black Coffee (duh) I start 1/2 my mornings off with black coffee. The other 1/2 of the mornings I add some fat in the form of some clean MCT Oil or some kerrygold unsalted butter. At starbucks I just add some heavy cream. It’s carb free and keto friendly.

  • Order it keto: “Tall black coffee” (your choice of roast)
  • Macros: 4 calories, 0g net carbs, 1g protein, 0g fat.
  • Order it keto: “Tall black coffee with room for cream” add 2oz heavy cream.
  • Macros: 196 calories, 1.5g net carbs, 1.5g protein, 20g fat.

LOW CARB ICED DRINKS

1. Low Carb Frappuccino

A typical Starbucks Frappuccino is a blend of coffee, milk, and ice, flavored with sugary syrups or sauces, topped with whipped cream and drizzled with decorative sweet toppings. The average “tall” Frappuccino has at least 40g net carbs.

To make a low carb Frappucino, start with a tall iced coffee, and ask them to blend it frappuccino-style with heavy whipping cream, sugar free syrup, and then optionally top it with whip cream and a low carb spice like nutmeg or cinnamon.

The possibilities are endless.

Here is an example of a Keto Cinnamon Dolce Frappuccino without whip cream that I ordered for my mom.

Sugar Free Cinnamon Dulce Light Frappucino
The Keto Frappucino I ordered for my mom.
  • Order it low carb: “Tall unsweetened iced coffee with extra ice, 2 pumps of sugar free cinnamon dolce syrup, and 2 shots of heavy whipping cream, blended frappuccino-style but with no frappuccino base & no frap syrups.”
  • Macros: 211 calories, 4g net carbs, 1g protein, 22g fat.

2. Low Carb Iced Tea

The iced teas at Starbucks are sweetened and have at least 8g of sugar in a tall-sized beverage. To create your own low carb Iced Tea, order one of these brewed teas on ice:

  • Emperors Cloud and Mist Green Tea
  • Jade Citrus Mint Green Tea
  • Mint Majesty Herbal Tea
  • Passion Tango Herbal Tea
  • Peach Tranquility Herbal Tea
  • Royal English Breakfast Tea
  • Teavana Earl Grey Brewed Tea
  • Teavana Joy (Seasonal)
  • Teavana Organic Chai Tea
  • Youthberry White Tea

Then you can use Starbucks’ in-store Stevia for sweetener or leave it unsweetened. Here’s an unsweetened Passion Tango Herbal Tea on ice that my wife ordered for my son.

My son’s low carb Starbucks Passion Tango Herbal Tea on Ice
  • Order it low carb: “Tall Passion Tango Herbal Tea on Ice, unsweetened.”
  • Macros: 0 calories, 0g net carbs, 0g protein, 0g fat.

3. Low Carb Refreshers

The typical Starbucks Refreshers come with a high carb fruit juice base mixed with water and served over ice. Some also have milk added for flavor. To recreate a low carb Refresher beverage, order a brewed tea on ice then add flavor, color, & texture via 2 shots of heavy whipping cream and/or two shots of one of these sugar-free syrups:

  • Vanilla (Maltodextrin) – 1g net carbs per pump
  • Cinnamon Dolce (Sucralose) – 1g net carbs per pump
  • Mocha Sauce (Sucralose) – 1g net carbs per pump

Perhaps the most famous Refresher beverage is the Starbucks Pink Drink which has about 20g net carbs.

To create a low carb Pink Drink, you’ll be using unsweetened Passion Tango Herbal Tea, heavy whipping cream, and sugar-free vanilla syrup.

Low Carb Starbucks Pink Drink

  • Order it low carb: “Tall Passion Tango Herbal Tea on ice, no classic syrup, 2 shots heavy whipping cream, 2 pumps of sugar-free vanilla syrup.”
  • Macros: 206 calories, 4g net carbs, 1g protein, 22g fat.

4. Low Carb Iced Caramel Macchiato

This one is featured prominently on the menu so I figured lots of people order it. A typical Starbucks Iced Caramel Macchiato has 26g net carbs and comes with milk, espresso, and vanilla syrup served over ice then topped with whipped cream and a caramel drizzle. Making it strict low carb is difficult. Here is a moderately low carb version:

Low Carb Starbucks Iced Caramel Macchiato

  • Order it low carb: “Tall Americano on ice, add 2 shots of heavy whipping cream, 2 pumps of sugar-free vanilla syrup (shots on top). Add whipped cream on top with an extra-light drizzle of caramel.”
  • Macros: 274 calories, 9g net carbs, 3g protein, and 28g fat.

You can save 2 net carbs if you forego the whipped cream on top or just don’t eat it all.

5. Low Carb Iced Coffee

You can get any of the Starbucks coffees served over ice and it’ll be low carb if you tell your barista to leave it unsweetened. For my research, I tried the Narino 70 Cold Brew on ice because it’s featured prominently on the menu so I figured Starbucks was proud of it.

  • Macros: 0 calories, 0g net carbs, 0g protein, 0g fat.

How To Improvise

Here’s a few tips to help you create your own low carb Starbucks drinks.

  1. Write your drink order on a piece of scrap paper. Often times, the barista will reference it to make sure they get your drink right.
  2. Order the smallest size possible. Moderation means lower carb. For hot drinks, the smallest size is “short” (8 ounces) and for iced drinks the smallest size is “tall” (12 ounces). If you forget, just ask the barista for “smallest size possible.”
  3. Replace milk with a mix of 3/4 water & 1/4 heavy whipping cream. This will save you about 5 net carbs per drink.
  4. Request sugar-free syrup. 2 pumps, max. Here are your options:
    1. vanilla
    2. caramel
    3. cinnamon dolce
    4. hazelnut
    5. mocha
    6. peppermint (seasonal)
  5. Replace sugar-y toppings with decorative low carb spices:
    1. Nutmeg
    2. Cinnamon
    3. Sea Salt
    4. Pumpkin Spice

The Research

Thank you to Shannon at Keto Connect for her insider’s guide to Keto Starbucks. I leaned heavily on her post for drink ideas.

I also referenced the Peace Love and Low Carb Starbucks guide many times.

Most nutrition stats and macros were taken directly from the Starbucks website. I used Google ingredient searches to fill in gaps. I also sent an as-of-yet unanswered email to Starbucks HQ to try and confirm that all my macro estimates are accurate.

    • Thanks Ally. Maybe if you ask them to go light on the vanilla sweet cream. It has about 12g net carbs. They don’t have a sugar-free version of the vanilla cream as far as I can see.

    • I am a professional Starbucks drinker, lol. Hopefully you have figured this one out already, but I just found this post. I typically order a Cold Brew with sugar free vanilla and heavy whipping cream. So yummy!!! Their “Vanilla sweet cream” is really just made from vanilla and cream, so it’s easy to substitute for a low carb option. I like mine really strong so I order with light water and light ice, but I have turned several people on to the cold brew with sugar free vanilla and heavy cream and most of them like theirs with extra SF vanilla and/or extra heavy cream. 🙂

      • I drink this same thing. Usually a grande cold brew with sf vanilla and heavy whipping cream but it’s literally gone in like 5 sips. So I am going to say light ice next time or order a venti haha. Do you know how many carbs are in it though? I’m trying to figure it out since I’m counting my carbs.

        • Starbucks heavy cream actually has more carbohydrates than half&half as it is formulated specially for Starbucks. (It’s 1g carbs in 1 tbsp of SB heavy cream, and it’s 1g carbs in 2 tbsp of half&half.)

          Sincerely,
          Starbucks barista

    • Starbucks discontinued everything except SF Vanilla and SF Cinnamon Dolce and Skinny Mocha Sauce on the sugar free syrup scale a couple years ago, at least at US Corporate stores (licensed stores are inside other places like grocery stores, sometimes they have a couple different things but it should mostly be the same).

      Reply
    • Many markets now have what’s called the “flavor reinvention” which will roll out to all US Starbucks in the near future. With this, there is sugar-free vanilla, cinnamon dolce, raspberry, peppermint, toffeenut, hazelnut, and caramel. … and the usual skinny mocha, too!

  1. This is great! Thanks for all your research! As far as the iced teas go, my husband and I order the trente black tea iced tea, no classic syrup, 3 Splenda, light water. (We like our tea STRONG!)

  2. I love this but I was disappointed you didn’t have a low carb version of the green team frappucin. I don’t drink coffee and I always get the pink drink. However I prefer the green tea frappucino. So can you please do that one one day?

      • Thank you so much for this guide. I spend a good deal of time meeting many of my customers and/or studying for grad school at Starbucks and the matcha green tea Frappuccino with almond milk and light whip is my favorite drink. I would love to know if there is a keto friendly version I could substitute. Thanks for helping us all living the (caffeinated) keto life!

    • Starbucks’s matcha powder used for the Green Tea Frappuccino actually has sugar already mixed in, so it’d be pretty much impossible to get the matcha from Starbucks and be keto-friendly.

  4. This is the best real-world examples for ordering keto-friendly Starbucks drinks! It sucks you’re ordering the short size as I’m already going from a grande to the tall, but I was frustrated about the carbs, hence me discovering this article. I run into the same carb issue with my medium size (16oz) Peets unsweetened almond milk matcha green tea latte. This is my one challenge since transitioning to the keto diet. Ugh! Thanks so much for sharing!

  6. Thanks so much for this! I really appreciate all these articles, they’ve been helping me a lot! Quick question – how do you calculate nutrition facts for these drinks? I was just wondering because I added the Low carb mocha you spoke about (size tall) and I got way more calories than I expected (12 oz, half HWC half water, so about 4-5 oz HWC). With that math the short size would end up being around 3oz HWC, so around 300 calories as opposed to the 55 you have. Just curious, thank you!

    • Hi Kelsey,

it’s a mix of using information on their website, Googling for ingredients, and emailing w/ Starbucks HQ. It’s certainly possible I may be off slightly off vs actual. I think you’re misinterpreting how much HWC is in the drink. Half the drink isn’t HWC. You’re replacing the portion of the drink that’s milk with half HWC and half water.

      Reply
      • I wondered the same as Kelsey. I’ve been getting these based on your post (except a tall size), but I started to get worried about how much HWC was actually in it. Today I asked my barista about how much he thought he was using and it was exactly as Kelsey said, he guessed about 4-5 ounces HWC after the water and shots. The HWC with the addition of 1 carb per shot of SF mocha sauce makes this a new very rare treat (about 11 carbs for a tall) instead of every couple days staple. Even the short would be around 300 calories and 8 carbs at best. It’s a bummer because it’s super delicious!

        Reply
    • It should be around half of that amount of HWC with a tall. A short uses 3 oz. of milk. If you remade it using half HWC and half water it would be 1.5 oz. A tall also has more espresso than the short, which fills more of the cup, so keep that in mind.

  7. Hey quick question!! I plan on taking a trip to Chicago and I will unfortunately eat terrible just because I want to experience all of the Chicago foods. Which are probably gonna be high carb foods, in weeks up to the trip, should I eat kinda bad so my body gets used to at least some carbs in me? I had a carb day rencently and felt terrible for two days. I don’t want that to happen while on vacation.

  8. Excellent article! It’s great to be able to have Keto SBUX. I just wish the app would allow us to order it the way we want it. The app is limited to how you can ask for things (no options to make it with 3/4 water:1/4 HWC, or “shots” of HWC, etc.) I love the app for mobile ordering for a fast pickup but special orders usually have to go inside to show them the recipe. Sometimes when I order something w/HWC they use the same amount they would have for milk, yuck. They should learn to consider HWC like a “milk super concentrate” and just mix water & HWC to make the same amount if it was milk. Or, just use a drop. (I keep hoping they’ll make a sugar-free PSL)

  10. Is the Cafe Mocha recipe accurately? Say, I order Mocha Latte instead- same skinny syrup, same replace the milk with half water and heavy whipping cream, and if I change the size, I can proportionately change nutrition? Heavy whipping cream is showing to be exponentially higher in calories. What am I missing?

    THank you for the help!

  14. If I want to order a larger size, for an occasional splurge, would I just times the nutrition facts x 1.5 for a tall and double them for a grande since a short is 8 oz, tall 12 oz and grande 16 oz. Would that give me fairly accurate macros?

  15. Thank you for this! I love your guides… they are so helpful. I have down loaded them and use them! It’s so helpful when we are out in our RV. All this work to share is so nice of you. I do want to mention one thing about the flat white. It would be 5oz of heavy cream because a tall flat white has 10oz milk. If you could adjust the calories so it doesn’t say 55kcal (that is the amount for a tablespoon of hwc). The correct is if you order tall flat white with ½ hot water and ½ hwc = 514kcal/55gm Fat/4.2 carbs. I confirmed with my daughter who works for Starbucks. She did say you can ask for a splash of cream in any drink or do yourself if you ask. Thank you!

  16. Unfortunately there is ‘no such thing’ as skinny mocha or low carb mocha. They have one mocha and it is 7g a pump. The only 0 carb sugar free syrups Starbucks has is Vanilla and Cinnamon Dolce. Just google Starbucks nutrition page. Notice under flavorings, it is just Mocha at 7g and sugar free van and cin at 0. I HATE this. A Starbucks employee who is also on Keto broke the news to me yesterday. The only SKINNY they have is in reference to their milk being low fat and no added sugar. That may be why Corporate is not returning your email. Also they are making some money off people who think they are getting this americano sugar free mocha which is a misnomer. Please let me know if you find something to the contrary. I’m going to miss my mocha. 🙁

    • Maybe where you live. but here in FL, and in the mobile app, there is a choice for Mocha sauce or skinny Mocha sauce. It is not under syrup, so maybe that is what your confusing it with.

  17. For the Flat White, order it with Almond Milk (instead of 1/2 HWC and 1/2 water). Almond milk has about 0.15g of carbs per ounce whereas HWC is about 0.40g to 0.50g per ounce. You’ll get less carbs, the full creaminess, you aren’t diluting your drink with water, and it’s a lot less calories.

    • Hi Chris, I have been ordering the Venti, Iced, unsweetened almond milk macchiato, with 3 pumps of SF Cinnamon Dolce. It is great. My calculation is about 10 carb, but I split it into 2 days of drink. I just hope my calculations are close to correct

  18. What about a mocha frap with sugar free mocha, heavy whipping cream, no mocha drizzle, no whip? they tell me its completely sugar free, but i have a hard time believing this. How much sugar and carbs?

    Reply
    • They used to have a skinny base, but they recently discontinued it. I’m diabetic and ordered a mocha frap with sugar free syrup, skinny base, 2% milk and no whipped cream just about everyday. It had lower carbs but wasn’t carb free. Maybe had about 30 carbs? I’m so disappointed that they discontinued it. I emailed them asking them to bring it back, but got no response. They have lost a lot of my business.

  19. This is a great list… my only concern is with the actual calculations of the macros. For example in #1 – 1/2 heavy whipping cream and 1/2 water is way more than: Macros: 55 calories, 1g net carbs, 1g protein, 5g fat. One tablespoon of HWC has 53 calories and 5.3 grams of fat. A 1/2 cup of of HWC has 43 grams of fat and a whopping 427 calories. I usually get all water with room for cream so I can add my own.

  22. Maybe I’m reading it wrong but I got a tall sugar free mocha with half heavy whipping cream and half water and looking at the macros I don’t see how it could be only 55 calories. I’m new to Keto am I missing something? Thx!!! It was damn tasty though haha!!

  23. Thank you SO MUCH! I really love Starbucks and have avoided it a little since I haven’t really known what I can do that’s low carb AND tastes good (I don’t like plain coffee, I like coffee with all the “stuff” lol). I’m going to try some of these. It’s so nice to know I can still go now and then!

  24. I’m a Starbucks barista, and the only sugar-free syrups are vanilla, cinnamon dolce, and mocha. The others have been discontinued. There’s also no such thing as “shots” of heavy whipping cream. We pour it from a quart-sized carton. People order like that and we have no idea what they expect

  25. I am so excited to find your web site. Am new to Type 2 diabetes and am struggling on what to eat and what to cook. I LOVE the fast food guide, and this will be so helpful for me. And I LOVE the conversions for Starbucks. I had just stopped going there. But now I have new ways to order my favorite things. One thing missing though….low carb frappachino. Have you designed one? My attempts have all turned out like slushy ice drinks from mini mart. Yuck. Why can’t I get it thick and creamy?

  26. FYI, if you are in Oak Harbor, WA and order the chai tea latte they will put the concentrate in it and overcharge you. You have to specify short chai tea with 2 bags, steamed heavy cream and sf cin dolce…I just got schooled 😀

  28. I downloaded the list you provided for the low carb Starbucks drinks. My question is, do I just order it by the it’s listed (ex. Low Carb Pink Drink) or do I need to actually tell them what amount of shots etc. to use while making the drink?

  30. All of their cold brew coffee is made with classic syrup (sugar). Tell them “no class” or else it will still be sky-high in carbs. 🙂

  31. Thank you so much for putting all of this together! I started keto this last week and started wondering today if there were things other than black coffee or simple tea I could enjoy at Starbucks. I had no idea of the possibilities!!! Thank you!

  32. Thank you for the info! What about something like espresso (as many shots as you prefer) over heavy cream and ice with a pump or 2 of sugar-free syrup? Also, I see where you say to cut the heavy cream with water, but that dilutes the espresso. Is it okay to have the full heavy cream?

  33. People on Keto should beware of “sugar fee” additives. These many times contain sugar alcohol that is high on the GI index meaning they can throw you out of Ketosis pretty dang quickly (not to mention have you running to the bathroom later that evening).

  34. Tried the low carb Frap, and without the base it was chunky and almost no liquid. Took 25 minutes stirring it to drink it. It was a fail. I will try hot options next.

  35. This post has been a life saver since I started Keto. I’m just wondering how you arrived at 1 net carb for the low carb Mocha? I’m trying to use Starbucks nutrition calculator but there’s no option to choose half heavy cream/half water so the net carbs for me are showing as 10 for a short. Also, did you use one pump of the skinny mocha sauce or 2?

Thank you for putting all of this together!

  36. Great post!! Super helpful! You may need to update the macros for numbers 1&2 under hot drinks (eg, 55 cals vs 215 for wife’s vanilla latte below). Based on everything else these seem quite a bit low. Thank you again!!

  38. When I go to calculate macros for this drink, i’m getting around 325 calories (8 oz drink – 1.5 oz espresso = 6.5 oz milk. Divide by two (3.25oz) and that’s the amount of HWC they’d be putting in). Unless I’m just not understanding the ratio of milk:espresso? I would love to hear how you got 55 calories for the short flat white! What are your thoughts on the grande size? Thanks!

  39. As a barista, this hurts my soul. We can’t make a Frappuccino without the sugary base. That’s how it blends. For half of these drinks it would just be cheaper and easier on everyone involved if you order an americano with heavy cream instead of trying to doctor a latte. There are better, easier, and cheaper ways of going low carb at Starbucks. Going low carb is about getting away from the foods that are full of sugar. Why try fake those foods when you could adjust your palette to better ways of eating? Or just skip Starbucks in general? It will help you stay away from temptations a lot better.

  40. The only sugar free options are vanilla and cinnamon dolce. Why can’t they get more sf flavors? Like Carmel and pumpkin? You do not give us much choice and it is frustrating. I love the cold brew with heavy cream and am feeling left out for the great fall pumpkin flavor?

  41. Thank you so much for this posting Mr. Skinnypants! I like to have a hot treat from Starbucks occasionally, and thought those days were long gone for me since doing keto :O I am excited to try this version of the Chai Latte, being that the NORMAL version is my absolute favorite! I really do appreciate you taking the time out of your life to compile this list for us clueless noobs LOL!

    • Hi Candice,

I am in the same situation. I love chai. I wonder if they’ll have an option to make this recipe either iced or in a frappuccino with heavy cream, since it’s summertime after all. ?

      Cheers,
      ~Barbara

  42. When I asked about how much heavy cream they put in the short mocha, they said it would be about 3oz. that would be like 300 calories not 55. just confirming. I ordered ot exactly how you wrote the recipe.

  43. How To Order Keto Starbucks Medicine Ball?
For a keto Starbucks Medicine Ball, ask for only hot water. Add a jade citrus mint tea bag, a bag of peach tranquility tea and pump of sugar-free peppermint syrup. This keto Starbucks drink will ease the pain and relieve your sore throat.

  46. All of the sweeteners and “sugar-free” syrups used in Starbucks spike insulin, as a result still fat cells are formed and it isn’t quite a keto but the so called “dirty keto” diet. For a clean keto diet, drink only tea and black coffee. You may use a teaspoon of heavy whipping cream. If you insist on sweetener, use very very little monk fruit, xylitol, erythritol or pure stevia (without any other ingredients, unfortunately most of them are always mixed with other ingredients). Anything sold to you from Starbucks or other store, claiming it’s keto, shouldn’t be fully trusted, always read the labels for hidden sugar like sucralose, maltodextrin etc. And if it tastes too good to be truth – there is something in it that will most likely spike your insulin and is not good for your health either.

  47. Starbucks Heavy Cream is formulated specially for Starbucks and has MORE CARBS than the Half & Half.

YOUR HEAVY CREAM LATTE WILL THROW YOU OUT OF KETOSIS.

Get a breve latte (at Starbucks), and actually enjoy your drink without consuming close to 1000 calories for a latte.

    • Not sure how you figure. They have milk, half & half, along with heavy cream that would come from a normal grocery store. Same packaging I can purchase- same labels, etc. Plus, it can’t be heavy cream with any sugar.

  50. Starbucks has low carb? I thought they were the sugar shack pretending to be a coffee shop. I’m glad I was wrong. I’ll have to stop in and I guess I could just order a cup of black coffee, but then again, they might think that’s racist, I am white after all.

  51. Not sure if anyone has mentioned this but they discontinued the sugar free cinnamon dolce syrup a while back, it was my favorite. Unless they have brought these discontinued syrups back, maybe you could edit these options as they aren’t available?
